Artist's comment

"At the beginning, I was fascinated by lines. It might be just one line or a massive number of lines, fine lines or thick lines, curved or straight.  It appealed to my sense of beauty.  It has infinite possibilities.

And then, through etching allied with aquatint, I have found the beauty of a velvety nebulous depth which gives another direction to my work.

An object and its surroundings, the atmosphere and spaces, they together construct a piece of work, which contains my own world.  Atmosphere is created by an object and the space surrounding it, or it is always there with the history of time which surrounds the space.

The beauty of the working process, and the inherent uncertainty as to the final outcome, leads to a dynamic creativity that rests on both assembly and disassembly.  This balance of 'easiness' and tension is critical.

And the piece of work starts breathing on a sheet of paper.  I seek to give it proper breathing and confidence."
